Shakespeare Lab
A 2-Hour Monologue Workshop with Jimmy Fairhurst
WHEN?
26th February
WHAT TIME?
6pm - 8pm
WHERE?
ARTS BAR Studio 3 - 22 Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BY
Bring a monologue you know or one you’ve never dared to try.
In this focused two-hour lab, Jimmy Fairhurst works with you to strip away the habits, myths, and “Shakespeare voice” that flatten great speeches into something polite and forgettable. You’ll leave with clear, practical tools you can apply to any classical text; tools that give you bold ownership, clarity, and emotional impact.
As a drama-school panellist and employer, Jimmy sees the same overused speeches delivered in the same beige way. This workshop shows you how to use your own instincts and personality to make bold, specific choices that make panels, directors, and audiences sit up and listen.
Jimmy brings the perspective of a working director, adaptor, and long-time Shakespeare collaborator who knows exactly what decision-makers respond to. Expect precise notes, brave choices, and a way into the language that feels lived-in, truthful, and immediate—not like an untouchable museum piece.
Come with a monologue.
Leave with a method.
LIMITED 15 PLACES
When they’re gone, they’re gone, kidders.
